Ukraine has announced the commencement of mass production for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to strengthen its air defences. Three initial producers have started production, with 11 more preparing to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Battlefield Conditions

The drones utilize a domestically developed system known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated successful “at night, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of manufacturing as many as 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Latest Attack on Kyiv Described as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and brutal” following six people were killed and dozens injured in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in the capital shortly after midnight this past Friday, with Shahed drones quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president stated the nation was hit by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed had been at home in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Dozens of other buildings sustained damage, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Protest Following Embassy Damage

The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a formal objection to the Russian ambassador on Friday following the embassy damage. An explosion from a Russian Iskander missile demolished part of the embassy’s perimeter wall and caused serious damage to the diplomatic compound, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry reported. There were no personnel was hurt, and an official representative said the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was continuing to operate.

Russian Aerial Bomb Production Experiences Significant Increase

Russia intends to produce as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official disclosed, including 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that can reach additional urban centers. Russian forces were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with the previous month's average daily usage standing at approximately 170, based on official military statistics.

Ukrainian Attacks Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's maritime terminal of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of global supply – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had launched domestically produced missiles and used various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine separately struck an oil refinery in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

International Restrictions Affect Russian Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with interested parties regarding its international holdings after recent sanctions from Western nations and the collapse of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements are to be disclosed once the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” Lukoil commented.

Zelenskyy Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spain

The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, Madrid, next Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his trip to France, the chamber of deputies announced. The Ukrainian president would meet representatives from all houses of parliament throughout his stay, the Spanish statement said.
