Emma Raducanu ends the current season and will keep trainer for 2026.

Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions this season because of the illness she has been fighting in recent days.

At 22 years old was due to play in events in Asia but opted to return home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match with Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the third set versus Zhu because of a lower back issue that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

The player achieved 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way before losing in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
